Questron’s team of knowledgeable engineers and application specialists make available modified designs to accommodate customer’s singular and exclusive sample prep needs.

Sample Preparation and Laboratory Automation Solutions

Questron’s headquarters is located in Toronto in the midst of the Canadian manufacturing heart land. Questron is devoted to inventing and carrying out microwave and heating block technologies for science and the environment. Since its first beginnings in 1989, Questron continually focuses on designing and manufacturing dependable and automated laboratory solutions. Questron was the first company to commence pressure and temperature controls for closed vessel microwave digestion applications. And in 1993, Questron produced the QWAVE 3000, the first computer-controlled microwave digestion system. Questron is also the first company to offer a totally automated block digestion system. The Vulcan digestion and work station completely automates the sample digestion process commonly used for metals and mercury sample preparation.

Innovation through specialized knowledge and experience

Today, Questron is dedicated to supplying products that benefit science and its history of innovation and collaboration. Questron’s QLabPro closed vessel microwave digestion systems, QAsh 1800 microwave ashing system, QBlock digestion system and Vulcan series of automated digestion & work-up station are all examples of modernization through specialized comprehension and understanding.

About Questron promises to listen to the suggestions and concerns of its customers and associates and provide original, dependable instrumentation that solves the ever developing needs of automating the sample preparation method.

Fume Scrubber

QTech fume scrubber has a durable, all-plastic build that is completely corrosion resistant. It is equipped with a water flow regulator and an in-line pressure regulator. It works with a minimum inlet pressure of 30 PSI, and has a flow drop of around 40% at 2,400 ft/min. The scrubber can be connected to other equipment using a 5-inch ID flexible tube, and comes with a benchtop stand for secure and convenient placement.

Exhaust Blower

QTech exhaust blower can be connected to the Vulcan system if there is no other source of external air draw at the site. When in use, this exhaust blower provides an air draw of 95 L/s.

Our exhaust blower can also be connected to other exhausts and fume hoods via an acid-resistant flexible hose with 5 inches internal diameter. This way, the contents of the blower can be discharge into the exhaust or hood.

Reagent Storage Cabinet

This reagent storage cabinet is generally used to store reagents that are to be supplied to the Vulcan, and is placed near the electronics bay of the system. The cabinet has an all-plastic, corrosion-resistant body that guarantees that the reagents are kept safely; and it is designed to catch spillages. It can store 6 x 2.5 litre reagents in one layer. The cabinet has 6 outlet ports at which Teflon tubes can be connected to transfer the reagents to the reagent inlet port of Vulcan.

Automated Sample Preparation and Digestion Systems

Our automated sample preparation and digestion systems- Vulcan, Nitron and QPrep, are the most efficient systems for sample processing today. They are capable of performing multiple, independent liquid transfers, additions and dilutions with utmost precision, and minimal human work. They are designed keeping in mind the problems faced by lab analysts during sample processing, and reduce the contamination of the sample during processing.

Vulcan, Nitron and QPrep are capable of performing several steps involved in the sample digestion process, in any order as required. These steps include addition of the various reagents, heating for a specific amount of time at a fixed temperature, allowing the sample to cool, changing temperature, refilling, adding fumes, and many others.

 Nitron
These systems are meticulously designed to maximum the efficiency of sample processing. Their operation is significantly cost-effective, and prevents excess usage of solvent. Their innovative design also minimizes the amount of waste generated.

Our systems are equipped with ultra-high efficient HEPA-ULPA filters and ePTFE membrane filters. These filters remove any and all foreign particles, guaranteeing minimum background contamination while digesting the sample.

Microwave Ashing System

The experts at QTech Corp have developed a revolutionary microwave ashing system, the QAsh 1800. This ashing system is capable of performing sample ashing processes up to 97% faster than traditional furnaces. The system is designed keeping in mind the convenience of the analysts, and reduces the exposure of the operator to the fumes and heat emitted during the process. It features a built-in exhaust system and does not need to be placed in a fume hood.

QAsh 1800
Even today, many laboratories rely on muffle furnaces or electronic furnaces for ashing. These conventional systems do not just take hours per run, but also consume large amount of energy when in use. Moreover, they diffuse the heat and odour produced during the process, which makes the lab environment uncomfortable for the personnel to work in.

The QAsh 1800, on the other hand, completes the process within just minutes, giving the analysts more time to perform their research. It is carefully designed to ensure safety and comfort, and minimizes the operator’s contact with the fumes, heat and odour.

igh efficiency and functionality of QAsh has helped in improving quality control and productivity in many labs. Have a look at our breakthrough microwave ashing system below, and download the brochure for details.

Durable Glassware for Labs by QTech

The use of high-grade glass equipment is vital in labs for the safety of the handler and proper storage of chemicals. Questron Technologies, a leading lab solutions provider, offers a range of reliable lab glassware. Our glass products are created using the latest methods to ensure safety and precision while handling and storing reagents.

How is the glass equipment used in labs different from other glassware?

Normal glass, like “soda-lime” and “float”, is not fit for lab use as it expands when there is a rapid increase in temperature, and contracts when temperature decreases. This causes the glassware to crack and break.
Lab glassware, called Borosilicate, is made by adding a small amount of Boron to the material. Boron helps lower the expansion coefficient of the material and makes it suitable for lab operation where extreme temperature conditions are required.

At Questron Technologies, we constantly strive to provide analysts with the latest equipment to make their research more effective. Our glassware is manufactured with utmost care for precise measurements and safety. Our products have helped us contribute to quality control in various industries, environmental conversation, checking automotive emissions and much more.
We hope to keep developing equipment that meets the demands of labs and help make the world a better place.
